It can be shown in public, it can be bought and sold, it depends upon the medium that shows it and the context of it's use.
France, Italy, Hungary, Poland and Brazil also have restrictions [a better term than ban, it is not actually banned anywhere].

Yea the ban of swastikas in Germany is silly. If anything Germany needs to remember their past. Soviet Russia was just as bad, they also inflicted a lot of harm on Germany though not as bad as what Hitler did. Ban the hammer and sickle!
I think you'll find that the East Germans were the enemies of East Germany. Yes, the Soviets were an occupying force, but it's what people like the Stasi and Politburo did to their own people that made the place so very fucked up. Still, my wife had quite a good upbringing and her education was very good indeed - and her family weren't even party members.
